Aims to explore the issues surrounding the area of domestic violence --- We challenge some myths and take a fresh look at the needs of those affected --- Aimed at anyone whose work brings or may bring them into contact with people experiencing domestic violence --- The day offers an opportunity to reflect on recent initiatives and review attitudes and ideas of what domestic violence is, who experiences it, what is available to tackle it and the effects it has on people and their homes --- It is no longer acceptable to have a 'one size fits all' policy for women, and men, experiencing domestic violence. Current thinking includes 'non victim crime' and 'sanctuary' policies. The law now recognises that those who are affected by domestic violence are best placed to assess the risks and the best ways forward --- We will be inviting participants look at this area and consider how we best assist and enable people to find their voice and the solutions that are right for them. We intend to explore some myths, invite debate, and hear about the latest Police and Local Authority work in this area --- The area is often a hidden secret.
